When something happens you often don’t stop and ask, “How am I going to think about this event?” You just feel a certain way and react. It seems like you don’t think at all; it’s just a reaction. That’s because your thoughts are already there. You have developed habits (patterns) in the way you think about life.
• How you THINK affects how you FEEL.
How you think affects how you feel. But your feelings also affect how you think. And it’s even more complex than that.
To be perfectly honest, feelings came first. Long before you knew how to use words, you felt feelings. You felt safe or scared, loved or unloved, comfortable or uneasy. You just didn’t know how to describe these feelings (and maybe you still don’t).
• What you THINK and FEEL affects what you SEE because you tend to SEE what you THINK you will see.
How you THINK and FEEL affects the way you view your world. It affects what you SEE, NOTICE, PAY ATTENTION TO, and FOCUS ON.
It affects how you interpret what you SEE, NOTICE, PAY ATTENTION TO, and FOCUS ON. You tend to SEE what you THINK you will see, which then reinforces (validates, confirms) what you were thinking and feeling.
